Family Christmas

Christmas has come and gone but it was a great day spent with family. My one true wish was granted and most of the family was here. Everyone said the meal was delicious and I just happen to agree with them. We fed all the family some of them more than once.
We steamed oysters on the grill later on Christmas day and they were great.

My brother came and told me what a great day it was being here with family and I totally agree with him. I missed Mom more this year than last year but I know she was happy that we were together as a family this year.

2008 has not been a great year but we made it. Here's hoping that 2009 will be a better year for all.

Charles had a great Christmas and that made all of us happy. The whole family seemed to have a great day and Santa was good to all of us. Thank you to everyone for the great gifts but most of all for the love.

Jason, Bobby, and I went shopping Friday and had fun at all the after sales. Finally got to take Jason out for his birthday lunch. Love the cabbage wraps at Toojay's.
Spent all day Saturday in my gown, never got dressed, it was a very relaxing day.
Bobby and I went shopping today, to a movie (Marley & Me), and out to eat. The Movie was good but so sad at the end. Don't take small kids to see this one.

Time to go back to work tomorrow, oh well, Thank God I have a job.

All my love and wishes for a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year.

December

Cannot believe that it is all ready December 7th. Where has the time gone?
I finally went to NYC for a visit with my son and I had a marvelous time.
We had a great Turkey Day meal and went to the movies to see Four Christmases. it was a really cute movie. I had the traditional dinner except that my stuffing had raisins in it. I just don't like raisins. Otherwise my meal was delicious. My almond lemon tart was soooo good. Bobby had duck and it was really tasty. We stopped by Whole Foods on the way home and he got his turkey dinner and I got fried chicken, really good.
We relaxed on Friday and Saturday and just watched TV. It was the type of visit when just being together was the best of times. I got lucky and slept on his bed and it is really comfortable.

My trip home was another story. We finally took off at 11:15, the turbulence was really bad, the girl next to me was sniffing all the way home, we got to Orlando on time but we had to fly around for a while because no one was landing due to weather conditions and finally we were told we were going to Jacksonville to refuel and wait for the all clear in Orlando. Finally got to Orlando between 4:30 and 5:00. What a day. Thank goodness I was off Monday all I did was relax because I was exhausted.

And then it happened on Wednesday, I got sick. Have not felt well since then, went to work all week but came home Friday morning at 7:15, have mostly been in bed since then. Taking all kind of junk, nothing seems to help. This to shall pass.

Not sure I am ready for Christmas but I will be before the 25TH.

Stay well, love to all.

LONG, LONG SUMMER

Nothing really exciting has happened this summer. Went to my Doctors, therapist, and spent more money on health care than I wanted to. Lymphedema therapy is very expensive.
The compression bandage supplies were $74.50 and the sleeve was $100. Insurance will not pay for these items and I am going to sent in a copy of my bills and find out why since this was caused by my having the lymph nodes removed that were related to my breast cancer. Insurance has you by the balls and they just keep on busting them.
Oh well life goes on.

Mac has still not found a job. He is discouraged but it is hard at 62 to find someone to hire you. Now if I could just get him to do all the housework and cooking. Oh how I dream.

We have cut back on a lot of things to save money. He really misses the premium channels on cable. Thank goodness the price of gas has come down a little, now if we could get the grocery prices to go down it would be great.

The big news is that I finally got a perm. I decided that the stringy look was not for me. A guy named Hector did my hair. It only took him 70 minutes from start to finish. I have never had a quicker hair stylist. He comes from New Jersey and was very nice. I look like me again.

It won't be long before I have more scans and such. Hope they all come back negative for the big "C".

Stay cool and keep in touch with me. Love as always.

FRIDAY THE 13TH

Well it really was Friday the 13th. What a horrible day. My husband got laid off and it will be hard to find a job at his age. 62 is not old but it is to a lot of employers. Not sure what we will do but life goes on and we just have to pray for the best. Life has big ups and downs and you just have to go with the flow.

Took him out for a really good Father's Day lunch. We went to Texas Roadhouse and it was delicious. Thank goodness we have one in Orlando now.

Charlene called early this morning and both boys called this afternoon. That made his Father's Day complete.

Back to the grind tomorrow.

Health, happiness and all that to everyone.

Summer in Florida

Well it is not even summer yet but the heat is here. Not sure what I will do when it gets hotter. I am not a fan of hot weather. I like it cool with no humidity.

Had a very lazy week end. All I did was wash some clothes and sweep my kitchen.
House work has never been my thing and as I get older I like it even less.

My knee surgery has not been the success I was hoping for. I am still having trouble walking and severe achy pain. Must be the arthritis, could not be the fact that I am overweight and over (60).

I am having a little problem with lymphedema and my insurance company is not saying they will pay for me to have therapy and get a pressure sleeve. They are checking it out and will let me know. I am sure that they will have to pay since this is caused by my mastectomy and node dissection. They just want to give me a hassle (haha).

We are looking forward to our NYC son coming for a visit. It seems like forever since we have seen him. I really enjoy reading all about his life in the Big Apple. It seems like he is busy, busy, busy.

Mac, Zoe, and I went to Indialantic for Memorial Day week end and had a very nice time. Zoe was on her best behavior. All we did was rest and relax.

Has anyone seen Can You Duet? Probably not since it is a country music AI. I really like some of the contestants. They are my kind of country not the new stuff. If you get a chance give it a try, I think next week is the last (2) shows Friday night.

Today is Crystal s birthday. Hope she had a super day and has many more.

Love to all my family and friends.
Keep smiling, love each other, forget the small stuff, enjoy life.

THE LAST LECTURE

WOW what a powerful lecture. If you go back to my blog of 12-23-07 you will see that I wrote about 'IF I COULD SAVE TIME IN A BOTTLE'. That song to me says it all. Each and everyone one of us have a chance to be special to someone. I just hope each of you know how very special you are to me. There are things in all our lives that we are not proud of but I hope I have shown more love and been there for my family.

I worry each day that the Big C is still with me. God willing it is gone but how do I know for sure. I want to be here for years to come and to lead a productive life and just have fun and help where I am needed.

This Wednesday I am suppose to have knee surgery and I am not looking forward to it at all. For some reason it is more scary to me than my last surgeries. Maybe I am just a wimp. Don't even know how I hurt my knee, just started having pain. One of lifes little surprises.

The Last lecture I am talking about is by Randy Pausch. A young man dying of pancreatic cancer which has spread to other parts of his body. He is an inspiration to so many people. What a legend he will be leaving his kids. Live life, have fun, go on trips, love your family and friends, climb the walls, be all that you can be.
May God Bless him and his family.

Just remember IT IS WHAT IT IS I love you all forever and forever. Nothing will dim the love I have for all of you. God keep you healthy and happy.

Tiger stop smoking now. Be there for your son.
Bobby stay healthy and try to get the weight off now while you are still young. Don't do like me and stay overweight.
Charlene get your mammogram.
Charles stay my sweet grandson like you are now.
Mac lay off the sweets and keep smiling.

Love and Kisses
ABM

How time flies

It seems like the year just started and here we in the last week of February. As we get older time seems to fly by and the days are just not long enough for all you want to do, besides who can stay awake long enough to do everything? Not me that is for sure.

Went down to Indialantic on the 15th and had a very nice time with Tiger and his family. Didn't do much just relaxed. While I was visiting I had the pleasure of meeting a very nice 15 year old girl named Tara. She is the daughter of one of Charlenes' friend. You don't hear many nice things about teenagers but I must say she was just a delight to meet and talk to. She has her head on straight and we had a very nice time talking.

Tiger, Charles, and I went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch on Saturday and had a great meal. Then we went to Wal-Mart and were in and out within 15 minutes. Hard to believe but true.

I have been watching American Idol and the young kids are better singers than the older contestants. We will have to wait and see how this season goes.

The bad news I heard is that Las Vegas and Big Shots have been cancelled. How can they not let us know what will be happening to these characters. I sure would like to know. At least wrap up the story line before you cancel a show.

Not real impressed with the new contestants on DWTS but oh well maybe they will surprise me and be good. Priscilla Presley needs to have her face redone and fix her lips. Elvis would not give her a look now that is for sure!

Going to MD today and tomorrow, soooo much fun, can't wait.

Have a super week and love to all.

Relief

Well all the tests I have had came back negative which is good. But what should I do about the growth in my neck? Should I just ignore it or should I have it removed? I found this thing back the first week in December and it has not changed. With my history I worry. Guess I'll make a decision soon.

Life is good. I enjoy my family even though I don't see them very much. They call when they can and that is much appreciated.

My husband and I go out to lunch and breakfast sometimes. Not much else going on here in Orlando. I have seen my brother several times in the last two weeks which is very nice.

I have gained three pounds since January 18th. Eating too much junk food.

Happy days to all. God Bless. God has answered a lot of my prayers and I am very thankful for that.
